InfoDOMAIN, the official online magazine of the Naval Information Forces (NAVIFOR), the Naval Information Warfighting Development Center (NIWDC) and the entire Information Warfare Community, is coming back as a web-based publication.
We took the break from publishing the online magazine to readjust and reevaluate in order to better focus on the new NAVIFOR roles and responsibilities across the Navy.
Our pause began when Navy Cyber Forces (NCF) was disestablished and NAVIFOR — formerly Navy Information Dominance Forces —stood-up in October 2014 as the TYCOM focused on Information Warfare readiness.
The new design has a layout that is an improvement on the previous PDF version and incorporates an intuitive design to better reflect content and issues focused on Information Warfare readiness.
Having InfoDOMAIN online will enable quicker dissemination of news and articles than the former quarterly InfoDOMAIN publication. The new InfoDOMAIN website will provide more timely information and better feedback mechanisms to hear from you, our readers.
We see InfoDOMAIN as the voice of the NAVIFOR and NIWDC in particular and the 74 commands that make up the Information Warfighting Community (IWC) in general.
The publication is also important for several other reasons:
-- Build a community of all Information Warfare Professionals - intelligence, cyber, meteorology / oceanographic and space.
-- An online magazine helps build a sense of community and connections. The best way to do that is help people make connections that cross those lines and help the diverse groups find a new, common home.
-- Source for Information Warfare news. We are the ultimate source for news about the IWC. We will give community members news and information to inform them about their shipmates, their organization and the Navy and to help them with career decisions.
-- Community news. While we are now part of a greater whole, individual communities continue to exist and in many cases, those communities don't have newsletters or magazines, so the new InfoDOMAIN will also serve as an official online, community magazine for our different parts.
Readers are vital to this effort — from the CO's conference room to the deck plate. We need to know your interests, your concerns, your ideas and your criticisms. The only way to make sure we give you what you want is for you to tell us.
Following the launch of our newest edition, we will send email links, post the link on Facebook and anywhere else we think may be able to reach out to our Information Warfare Professionals. We will archive our old issues and update news stories routinely. You can find us at http://www.public.navy.mil/FLTFOR/infodomain/ or
