As required by Section 901 of FY 2021 National Defense Authorization Act, the Department of Defense’s Chief Management Officer (CMO) position is repealed. DoD is leveraging the law to realign CMO responsibilities into existing, high performing organizations to better link performance with budget requirements – a longstanding goal, according to a new DoD release.
In addition, DoD re-established two leadership positions – Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Intelligence Oversight (ATSD(IO)) and Director of Administration and Management (DA&M) to carry out some of the functions formerly held by the CMO.
