It’s that time of year again, autumn may usher in thoughts of hot apple cider and hayrides, but Oct. 1 also signals the beginning of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM), a collaborative effort between government and industry to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity and to ensure that all Americans have the resources they need to be safer and more secure online.
The Department of Homeland Security hosts a website dedicated to NCSAM. NCSAM 2019 will emphasize personal accountability and stress the importance of taking proactive steps to enhance cybersecurity at home and in the workplace. This year’s overarching message – Own IT. Secure IT. Protect IT. – will focus on key areas including citizen privacy, consumer devices, and ecommerce security and will touch on a range of cyber awareness tips from scams and phishing to travel and the internet of things (IoT).
The NCSAM 2019 Toolkit is a comprehensive guide to make it easy for you and your organization, civic community or industry, to engage and promote the core theme and critical messages leading up to and throughout October. Use the guide and the resources at this link to help you educate your group and promote positive, lasting cybersecurity habits.
