Guide For Compensation Flexibilities to Recruit and Retain Cybersecurity Professionals

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has released a guide that provides information on the compensation flexibilities that are available for the Federal Cybersecurity Workforce. Within the Department of the Navy that equates to those in the Cyber Information Technology, Cybersecurity and the Cyber Effects Workforces.
As the DON has coded Cyber IT and Cybersecurity positions based upon the National Cybersecurity Workforce Framework, even more opportunities than before exist for compensation incentives for our Cyber Workforce. This guide provides specifics - including checklists - for validating needs and determining special pay and incentive rates/amounts. While not every organization can make use of all the incentives, there may be some that offer your organization additional options. Organizations are encouraged to review the OPM guide and work with Human Resources support personnel and offices to maximize the use of both recruitment and retention incentives wherever possible.
