CHIPS Articles: Connecting Technology

Connecting Technology
By CHIPS Magazine - July-September 2002
Guests said, "It was the best show so far!" Connecting Technology Spring 2002, May 14-16, held in Virginia. Beach, Va., proved to be a great way to catch up on the latest in technology design from private industry innovators and the government leaders, driving information technology policies. Just a sampling of distinguished speakers included: Dan Porter, Department of the Navy Chief Information Officer (DON CIO); Rear Adm. Kenneth D. Slaght, Commander, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command; Rear Adm. Charles L. Munns, Director, NMCI; Craig Conway, President and Chief Executive Officer, PeopleSoft; and Scott Boggs, Vice President, Corporate Controller, Microsoft.

The exhibits consisting of government and private industry displays were impressive, showcasing a wide range of technology products from business and administrative systems to the latest in C4ISR design. There was a steady buzz of activity on the exhibition floor and e-mail addresses were "flying" while the exchange of information among speakers, attendees and vendors proceeded at "Internet speed."

Highlights of the show were the presentation of DON eGovernment Awards and the CHIPS 20th anniversary celebration. The Connecting Technology Team, as always, performed superbly, assuring the maximum enjoyment of attendees, speakers and exhibitors.
