DON Issues Memo Updating Commercial Broadband Deployment Process on Navy and Marine Corps Properties
By DON CIO - December 7, 2020
The Department of the Navy has issued the memorandum "Updated Streamlined Process for Commercial Broadband Deployment." This memorandum expands the existing process for the deployment of commercial broadband infrastructure on Navy and Marine Corps property to also include Small Cells and Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS).

Small Cells and DAS are critical components to fifth generation (5G) wireless technology build-out, enabling mobile broadband wireless providers to improve service coverage and increase network capacity. Additional guidance addressing supply chain security is also included in this updated deployment process memorandum.
