Air Force announces Compute and Store agreement
By Secretary of the Air Force Public Affairs - July 2, 2019
ARLINGTON, Va. (AFNS) -- The Air Force has taken another step toward Acting Secretary Matthew Donovan’s goal of becoming a digital Air Force through the award of a Compute and Store agreement June 21.

The third agreement made under the Enterprise IT as-a-Service (EITaaS) risk reduction effort is part of a multi-year initiative that aims to modernize the Air Force digital backbone through leap-ahead advancements in technologies and delivery models.

Service officials recently announced that Accenture Federal Services has entered into another transactional agreement to experiment with delivering computing and storage capabilities “as-a-service” to eight bases, providing an innovative approach to “edge” cloud computing to better enable resilient, data-driven base operations and support Artificial Intelligence initiatives.

Work will be performed at: Buckley Air Force Base, Colorado, Maxwell AFB, Alabama, Offutt AFB, Nebraska, Joint Base Elemendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Cannon AFB, New Mexico and Hurlburt Field, Florida and is expected to be completed by June 2020.

EITaaS comes on the heels of the completed overseas expansion of Cloud Hosted Enterprise Services, which now delivers email, calendaring and virtual collaboration capabilities to Airmen worldwide directly from Microsoft’s Office 365 cloud environment. These milestones signal the Air Force’s sustained commitment to adopting alternative delivery models to enhance end-user experience and provide mission-relevant and secure IT services.
