SAN DIEGO — Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Pacific (SSC Pacific) is delighted to announce Dr. Wadad Brooke Dubbelday has been elected as a Senior Member of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI).

As a Distinguished Chief Scientist at SSC Pacific, Dubbelday leads the Science and Technology Forecasting, Investment and Transition Division which facilitates collaborations with academia and industry through educational partnership agreements and cooperative research and development agreements. She also oversees the patent licensing for SSC Pacific’s portfolio of over 850 patents, a key means to transition Government intellectual property to the commercial sector, and holds 11 U.S. patents of which two have been commercially licensed.

Dubbelday’s division is also charged with leading SSC Pacific’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) outreach activities. Through her leadership, our scientists and engineers have volunteered more than 10,000 hours of engagement with the future STEM professionals our Nation needs. She also leads the Center’s summer intern program which offers high school, undergraduate and graduate students opportunities to work side by side with researchers in the landmark Navy laboratory.

Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command Chief Technology Officer Dr. Stephen Russell says the honor recognizes the significance of the work conducted at the lab.

“Recognition by the NAI of our Senior Members demonstrates the level of innovation exhibited by the scientists and engineers at our Center,” Russell said. “We are truly leaders in developing the next generation information warfare capabilities in support of our Navy and Nation.”

SSC Pacific's mission: To conduct research, development, engineering, and support of integrated command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, cyber, and space systems across all warfighting domains, and to rapidly prototype, conduct test and evaluation, and provide acquisition, installation, and in-service engineering support. www.spawar.navy.mil/pacific
