NAVSUP Business Systems Center to showcase business systems at DON IT Conference, East Coast 2018
By Naval Supply Systems Command Business Systems Center Public Affairs - January-March 2018
MECHANICSBURG, Pa. -- Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Business Systems Center (BSC) subject-matter experts and Commanding Officer, Capt. Douglas M. Bridges Jr., will attend the Department of the Navy (DON) Information Technology (IT) Conference, East Coast 2018, April 23-25, at Hilton Norfolk the Main in Norfolk, Virginia to showcase Navy One-Touch Support (OTS), Navy Business Intelligence Services (NBIS), and eSUPPO mobile application (app).

NAVSUP BSC provides the Navy with information systems support through the design, development, and maintenance of information systems in the functional areas of logistics, supply chain management, transportation, finance, and accounting.

OTS is a NAVSUP web application sustained by the NAVSUP BSC that provides a single view to more than two-dozen sources of Department of Defense logistics information and provides substantial time savings and increased supply chain visibility to the Navy logistics community.

It serves as a fast and efficient proxy for users by eliminating the need to access systems separately and improves readiness by reducing the time to submit and track logistics requirements.

In FY15, OTS accounted for an estimated 244,000 man-hours of cost avoidance.

In many cases, OTS represents the only system some commands have to submit and track requisitions to the Navy supply system. For other commands, it serves primarily as a work force multiplier.

NBIS was built to support better access to Navy data and uses IBM PureData for Analytics (PDA Netezza) as the processing power to perform analytics on large amounts of data. NBIS has three main business analytics tools: IBM Cognos; statistical analysis software (SAS); and systems, applications, and products (SAP) business objects.

NBIS is available across the Navy enterprise to support data analytics. It is used to improve financial audit readiness, financial dashboards, supply readiness, Chief of Naval Operations digital initiatives, and other business sensitive improvements.

The system uses Navy data to improve readiness across the fleet by putting data into the hands of Sailors and other Navy support personnel, which allows quick and decisive decision-making.

NBIS is architected so that it can readily scale to meet the net-centric data strategy and the national information exchange model, which allows the Navy to share data across the DoD.

Additionally, NBIS has partnered with the Navy Business Intelligence Community of Excellence to provide business office and user perspectives to better serve the Navy.

The eSUPPO mobile app puts information needed to make informed decisions at the fingertips of Sailors.

The latest updates provide officer and enlisted personnel with information such as Navy community health, career path, bibliographies, and detailer frequently asked questions; Career Management System (CMS) Interactive Detailing (ID) functionality and applications; Career Waypoints (C-WAY) impact on permanent change of station negotiation and orders; and information pertaining to types of billets, special programs, and related topics relevant to individual Sailors.

Additionally, the eSUPPO app provides the latest news, governance, policy documents, and ethics briefings, both on and offline.

Through seamless integration of information, NAVSUP BSC provides sustained military advantages globally and maintains the key capability of resilient and agile logistics for a more lethal force.

NAVSUP BSC provides supply chain IT and management solutions for supply and financial requirements that increase fleet readiness by improving automation and information sharing.
