DISA to Sunset Defense Connect Online Service
By DISA News - April-June 2015
The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) will sunset, or discontinue, the Defense Connect Online (DCO) collaboration service when the DCO contract ends June 24, 2015.

Current DCO users must transition to the department’s new enterprise collaboration tool, Defense Collaboration Services (DCS), as soon as possible, but no later than May 30, 2015.

DCS enables collaboration and communication on both the Non-secure Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNET) and Secure Internet Protocol Routing Network (SIPRNET). The service provides:

-- Web Conferencing (session management, text messaging, application sharing/broadcasting, audio, presence and awareness, voting/polling, video, multiple sessions, and recording).

-- Instant messaging.

DCS is currently available for use on both the NIPRNET and SIPRNET. Account registration is not required; users can authenticate with a Common Access Card (CAC) or Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) hard token. Moderator-validated guest access is permitted.

Detailed information regarding DCS is provided in the DISA Service Catalog: http://www.disa.mil/Enterprise-Services/Applications/Defense-Collaboration-Services.

In order to prevent data loss, DCO users will need to complete the following tasks prior to May 30:

-- Identify all necessary persistent Web conferences/chat rooms in DCO and re-create them in DCS.

-- Identify and save local copies of all critical recorded meetings and documents stored on DCO.

A step-by-step guide, or “Transition Playbook,” is available on https://www.dcs.apps.mil.

Live training sessions intended to help users become familiar with the features and functions of DCS are offered every Tuesday and Thursday at both 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. (Eastern Daylight Time). The session URL is available on the DCS training calendar at https://www.dcs.apps.mil.

Transition support is available 24/7 by contacting the DCS Service Support Desk at disa.dscc.eis.mbx.dcs-support@mail.mil or calling 614-692-0032, DSN 312-850-0032.
