Grace Hopper Amazing Grace Hopper
– her legacy continues …

Rear Adm. Grace Hopper was a computer scientist and information
technology pioneer both for the Navy and in private industry.
Among her many accomplishments, Rear Adm. Hopper took the lead in
bringing desktop technology to the Navy. Hopper was a mentor to
the CHIPS staff offering ideas, encouragement and often her tagline:
"It's easier to ask forgiveness than it is to get permission." Because of
Hopper's long-lasting achievements, she is referred to as "Amazing
Grace." The U.S. Navy destroyer USS Hopper (DDG 70) is named in her
honor.
