SPAWAR Systems Center Atlantic demonstrates Media Monitoring and Rapid Response tool
By DON Innovation - September 5, 2017
Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Pacific Atlantic (Code 7.1, Research and Applied Science) demonstrated how its Media Monitoring and Rapid Response (M2R2) system provides feedback to operational planners at DoD Lab Day in May.

U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa (NAVEUR) and the United States European Command need approaches to measure the effectiveness of operations occurring in its area of operations. These measures of effectiveness need to include a large scale approach to understanding public opinion.

NAVEUR and EUCOM need means to provide the commander the ability to ensure distribution of accurate and timely official information, correct misinformation and support counter-propaganda efforts.

M2R2 is built on an open-source and GOTS Big Data and cloud computing architecture, ingests social media data from a variety of sources, and will provide a suite of analytic tools to include sentiment analysis, message penetration analysis, geographic analysis, and event/instability analysis.

M2R2 transitioned from 219/NISE funded research.
