NGA announces Poole as deputy director
By National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency News - August 11, 2017
SPRINGFIELD, Va. — The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency announced Aug. 10 that Justin C. Poole, who began his career in 1991 with one of NGA’s predecessor organizations, The Defense Mapping Agency, has been named the agency’s seventh deputy director upon the departure of Susan M. Gordon, current NGA deputy director. Gordon was recently named the new principal deputy director of national intelligence.

Poole has wide-ranging management experience with leadership positions in strategic oversight, business management, customer service and operations. In his most recent position as director of NGA’s Source Operations & Management directorate, he was responsible for creating, collecting and brokering authoritative geospatial intelligence content and services to support national security priorities. Just prior to this assignment, Poole served as NGA’s director of Xperience, responsible for enhancing user experience through online, on-demand GEOINT services that provide access to content, expertise and applications.

"The current GEOINT landscape is evolving at a rapid pace,” said NGA Director Robert Cardillo. “A deputy with Justin's background, skill and drive is required for us to make the most of this opportunity."

Poole will replace Gordon, who will soon take the reins as the new PDDNI. Gordon was appointed as NGA deputy director January 2015.

“I know no one more widely respected by those inside and outside of our community than Sue,” said Cardillo in a recent message to the workforce. “The depth and breadth of her knowledge, wise counsel and incredibly sharp mind have been invaluable to our team, our profession and our Agency."
